Far East CafeChinatown

We finished dinner late, around 8:30 so we didn’t have a lot of time to explore the shops in Chinatown, but I don’t feel like I missed a thing! This little store, right next door to Far East Cafe had everything you could possibly ever want in one location. I don’t think I have ever seen so much “stuff” in four walls – wow!

Restaurant Review

I first heard about Far East Cafe on The Travel Channel.  According to Andrew Zimmern, they were supposed to have the best egg foo young in the city. I love egg foo young, so this was definitely something I wanted to do while in ChinaTown.

Let’s Eat

We started by ordering sake. They bring it warm and it was really delicious

Appetizers were next on the agenda and we ordered the sample platter, which had an assortment of all our favorites including dumplings and the most tender fried calamari.

By the time we got to our main course of fried rice and the egg foo young, we knew we let our eyes overload our bellies and were about to enter a food coma.

Far East Cafe

The egg foo young was the size of the entire plate!!! It really was as amazing as had been advertised but we definitely could not finish even half of these gigantic portions.

Service

  • The wait staff is friendly and attentive to your needs
  • Food came out in a timely manner

Travel Tip: If you are traveling with a partner, share your food in San Francisco. The portions are always more than one person could possibly eat.
